Location: EThekwini Township offers training opportunities to individuals with a genuine interest in pursuing a career to qualify as craftsmen in any of the identified trades.
Applications from suitably qualified applicants are invited to participate in the eThekwini Municipal Craftsman Development Program in various trades for a period of the commercial program, which would not exceed three years.
Opportunities for artisanal development are available in the following trade: Boiler manufacturing Eligibility requirements i) Certificate N2 that includes the relevant business theory subject; or ii) Technical / Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Sciences / Engineering Sciences and related business theory subject; or iii) Relevant (directly related to trade theory subjects) Certificate N6 or National Technical Diploma (current S or N) iv) Be eThekwini residents (proof of residency is required) v) Be a South African citizen with a valid identity document (ID) vi) Applicants must be unemployed; vii) Have passion and interest in the fields requested; viii) Applicants must be between 18 and 30 years old; ix) Applicants should not have previously participated in a similar apprenticeship program; Applicants will be required to undergo several prior evaluations as part of the hiring process for consideration.
Candidates will be required to complete an apprenticeship program according to the specified and regulated criteria of the applicable Mushroom and the National Body for the Moderation of Craftsmen. The program will involve face-to-face practical training, as well as attendance at a training institution to obtain the theoretical component. At the end of the training program, the apprentice will undergo a formal business test to qualify as a Craftsman in the relevant trade.
