How to apply for SRD R350 Grant 2022
Have you not yet applied for the SRD R350 Grant? Or have you applied but have been declined? Well, no worries because you can still apply for the R350 grant in 2022.
Those that have already been approved; no need to apply. Sassa indicated that there is no need to reapply for the grant if you have been approved from the previous cycle. Your grant will continue to be paid to you until March 2023 if you still meet the requirements.
If you want to apply for the R350 grant, there are several ways to do so. Choose the channel you feel confident or comfortable to use from the ones stated below. Applying for the Social Relief of Distress grant is not so complicated.
Channels to apply for the R350 grant in 2022:
- The Sassa SRD Website: https://srd.sassa.gov.za. You can apply for the grant by visiting Sassa SRD website. Follow the easy instructions there. Start by entering your ID numbers and cellphone number of the space provided under “Apply” for the grant bar.
- WhatsApp: 082 046 8553. The second method you can use is WhatsApp. U se the number provided here to start a conversation with the chat bot to apply.
- USSD Line: Dial *134*7737#. If you prefer applying with a USSD, do so by dialling the number mentioned here and follow the instructions thereafter.
- GovChat: https: //govchat.app/login. Another method you can use is GovChat which is the SA Government messenger chat platform. You may also go to Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/govchat.org in order to use the messenger platform.
Background
When the applications were opened back in 2020, there was huge traffic to the SRD website, so SASSA introduced these new platforms for applications due to the WhatsApp channel experiencing technical difficulties and SASSA’s SRD website becoming overloaded with huge traffic and, as a result, slowed down.
Try whichever method you prefer, and if it does not work try another one. Remember, you only need to apply once and wait for the response.

One of the ways to trach your R350 application status is by visiting SRD website at srd.sassa.gov.za and scroll down to a section about “application status”
